A small radio house sending a CQ call
Pumping out CQs from the QRP shack.

Hello world! I am EP2AES, an amateur radio operator who joined the global ham radio community in mid-March 2026.

From the moment I got licensed, I fell in love with the ultra-portable and capable FX-4CR QRP transceiver. Operating low power with this compact SDR rig, paired with Apple Silicon Macs, is my sweet spot.

My operating focus is on weak-signal digital modes—especially FT8 and FT4—making DX contacts across HF bands using minimal power and efficient antennas.

What this logbook is for

This site is where repeatable setups, experiments, fixes, and small radio tools become durable field notes. The aim is simple: if I lose a weekend to a cable quirk or a calibration puzzle, the next operator should not have to.

Operating philosophy

Good radio is equal parts curiosity, measurement, patience, and documentation. I favor compact systems, clean signals, reproducible settings, and tools that reveal what is actually happening.
